With the current agreement set to expire at the end of July, the union representing 225 registered nurses at Auburn Community Hospital has begun negotiations on a new contract.

The nurses, members of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, began contract talks on June 17, according to the union.

In advance of negotiations, the bargaining committee said it focused its proposals on recruiting and retaining nurses, improving competitive wages, and maintaining current benefits.

According to the Auburn Citizen, union officials said the nurses at Auburn Community Hospital live in the city and surrounding communities and have “dedicated decades of service” to the hospital.

The previous contract was ratified in 2023, though details of that agreement were not publicly released at the time. Both sides previously described it as including “significant” wage increases for nursing staff.

Negotiations are ongoing.
