Emergency crews responded to a structure fire Friday evening in the Town of Junius.
According to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson, deputies were dispatched to 290 Whiskey Hill Road at approximately 5:00 p.m. on April 24 for a report of an active fire.
Upon arrival, deputies found the home filled with heavy black smoke, with flames visible inside the residence. Deputies entered the structure and were able to clear portions of the home that were filled with smoke but had not yet been overtaken by flames.
Officials determined that no one was inside the residence at the time of the fire.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Waterloo, Border City, and Junius fire departments, North Seneca Ambulance, the Seneca County Fire Coordinator, New York State Police, the American Red Cross, and additional mutual aid partners.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team.
