A Stanley woman is facing an animal cruelty charge after authorities say multiple dogs were found in need of care at her home.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded around 7 p.m. March 22 to a residence on South Street for a reported fight between dogs. When deputies and the New York State Police arrived, they were able to separate the animals.
Investigators say 48-year-old Lisa Lovejoy later arrived at the home, and further investigation determined the two dogs involved in the fight required veterinary care. Authorities say Lovejoy refused to seek treatment for the animals.
Officials say the charge also stems from a prior incident at the same residence in February, where inadequate care was reported.
Lovejoy was taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail for processing.
The two injured dogs were treated by a veterinarian, and those animals, along with eight additional dogs, were removed from the home and taken to the Ontario County Humane Society.
