A city resident and a police officer were injured following a dog attack on Monday afternoon in Geneva.

According to the City of Geneva Police Department, officers from the Uniformed Division responded to the area of Austin Place around 4:45 p.m. for a reported dog attack.ย  Upon arrival, officers found a resident suffering from multiple bite wounds to the lower body. Police say a tourniquet was applied at the scene to control bleeding.

While assisting the victim, officers encountered a medium-sized pit bull, which then bit one of the responding officers in the lower body.
