Work Begins on Auburn School District Capital Improvement Projects

SHARE NOW

Work is underway on one Auburn school’s 2024 capital improvement project while those at other schools will begin soon.

A new parking lot between the Pop Warner football field and the west side of Seward Elementary will feature a loop for parents to drop off their children. This is anticipated to lessen the number of cars on Metcalf Ave and create a safer traffic pattern. When complete, cars will no longer be able to park in front of the school.

Other improvements include sidewalk replacements, repaving the staff parking lot, a southside asphalt walkway replacement, and replacing the building’s southside exterior doors and frames.

Genesee Elementary is slated to get new roofing while Owasco Elementary will receive new playground equipment and auditorium lighting will be replaced.

Exterior improvements at Auburn High include the repaving of the bus loop with new sidewalks added. The staff parking lot will also be repaved with its sidewalks replaced.  The walkway from the parking lot to the Fleming Street sidewalk will be extended as well. New air handling units will also be installed on the building’s roof.

Internally, the library’s flooring will be replaced.

Both Auburn High School and Auburn Junior High will be closed during the summer to work on their projects.

At the junior high, construction will begin on a more secure vestibule at the building’s main entrance, the main office will be reconstructed, and air conditioning added to the building’s first and second-floor A wings.

New sidewalks and lighting will be added to the main entrance and bus loop while the staff parking lot will be repaved.

All projects are expected to be completed in time for the 2024-2025 school year.
