Voting Open for Day of Caring Logo Contest

If you live in Cayuga County, you can now vote for United Way’s 2024 Day of Caring logo.

Students aged eight and up who either live or go to school in Cayuga County had the opportunity to submit a design to United Way. Julisa Stone with the nonprofit told Finger Lakes News Radio that this year’s turnout was incredible.

“This year was our biggest year,” said Stone. “We had 128 youth from throughout Cayuga County turn in a submission for the Day of Caring t-shirt design.”

From the 128 submissions, staff narrowed the designs down to the top 36. From there, United Way’s board of directors selected the 12 finalists to be voted on.

The winner’s design will be featured on t-shirts used for United Way’s fourth annual Day of Caring which is scheduled for August 1. The winning youth will also receive a prize and a t-shirt bearing their design.

Voting can be done in person at the following locations:

  • June 5, 9:00a-4:30p: Auburn YMCA-WEIU
  • June 7, 11:00a-2:00p: Wegmans Hot Dog Days
  • June 8, 4:00-8:00p:  Camp Gregory Community Day

For those unable to attend in person, voting can also be done on United Way’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

Voting ends Sunday.

The Day of Caring is a day where volunteers work with nonprofits on a variety of projects such as painting, stair repair, or gardening.

Stone added that registration is still open for those wishing to volunteer or nonprofits in need of volunteer assistance. Those wishing to register a project or volunteer can do so at unitedwayofcayugacounty.org.
