Three Auburn residents have pled guilty to felony gun and drug charges following an August investigation by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.
According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, 45-year-old Walter Leonard pled guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon after authorities executed a search warrant that turned up a .380 caliber pistol and more than 1/2 ounce of cocaine. When sentenced in January, Leonard faces seven years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision. Leonard was released on bail despite an objection by the DA’s office.
34-year-old Overly Deloach pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. A search of his residence found a 9mm pistol and over eight ounces of cocaine. Deloach is scheduled for sentencing in December where he faces eight years in prison plus five years post-release supervision. He is currently in the custody of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
39-year-old Paul Currier was found with a .380 caliber pistol and an undisclosed amount of cocaine. He pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon. When sentenced in January, he faced six years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision. Like Leonard, Currier was released on bail despite an objection by the DA’s office.
Additionally, Kahlila Bender-Baker was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision for an unrelated offense. According to the DA’s Office, she was found guilty of Robbery.
The 37-year-old Syracuse woman had previously pled guilty to robbery in December 2023 after stealing merchandise from Kohl’s. During the larceny, she threatened an employee with a taser. She was scheduled for sentencing in March but failed to appear in court. A warrant for her arrest was issued and Bender-Baker was found in Syracuse in October.
