An indictment has been handed up against four Syracuse residents who are accused of entering a store in Aurelius last Sunday and stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
According to Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci, a Cayuga County Grand Jury charged Dathan Haynes, Tayonna Albert, Kahlila Bender Baker and Tavaris McLaurin with felony grand larceny after they allegedly entered Kohl’s and stole more than $3,000 worth of merchandise. All four were apprehended after leaving the store.
Bender Baker is also charged with robbery as a Class C Violent Felony for forcibly stealing property while aided by another person.
Haynes, Albert and McLaurin face a maximum prison sentenced of two-and-one-third to seven years in prison if convicted. Bender Baker faces a 15-year determinate prison sentence followed by five years of post-release supervision if convicted.
All defendants will be brought before Cayuga County Court for the purposes of formal arraignment.
The investigation was conducted by members of the New York State Police with assistance from the Auburn Police Department.
