Time is running out to register for United Way of Cayuga County’s 4th Annual Day of Caring.

Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Julisa Stone with United Way said the deadline for nonprofits to apply to have their projects considered for inclusion is Friday.

Registration to volunteer for the annual event where county residents spend the day helping local nonprofits with work at their sites is July 19.

Stone added that groups are being sought for two projects in particular. Three to four individuals are needed for general deep cleaning and gardening at Southern Cayuga Instant Aid in Aurora. In Auburn, four to five volunteers are needed for landscaping and yard cleanup at the PERC (Case Mansion).

Project and volunteer registration information can be found on United Way’s website.

The Day of Caring is also the start of United Way’s United Way’s Countywide Personal Care Drive where personal hygiene items are collected to be distributed to area food pantries in October.
