Auburn City Council is poised to vote Thursday on changes to the intersection of Metcalf Drive and Mary Street as it seeks to improve safety at Seward Elementary School.
The proposed changes include adding a four-way stop at the intersection and moving the crosswalk from in front of the school on Metcalf Drive to the intersection. On-street parking would also be barred between 7:00-9:00a and 2:00-4:00p,
As part of its Capital Improvement Project, the school is adding a new parking lot between the Pop Warner football field and the west side of the school with a loop allowing parents to drop off their children. The loop’s exit would align with Mary Street.
Last year, a child was struck by a car while crossing the street at the crosswalk, beginning discussions on safety improvements at the school.
