Budget presentations will continue at Auburn’s next city council meeting.
As the city works on its fiscal year 2025-26 budget, council will get a look at the proposed budgets for the Civil Service Commission, City Clerk’s Office, Corporation Counsel, City Manager’s Office, Finance Department, and the city manager and comptroller at its Thursday council meeting.
The meeting begins at 5:00p at City Hall.
Council has already heard from the police department, fire department, ambulance service, Public Works Department, Engineering Department, and the Office of Planning and Economic Development and Code Enforcement. The city manager and comptroller also have a preliminary budget presentation on April 3.
Back in January, City Clerk Chuck Mason told Finger Lakes News Radio that Auburn has scheduled a public hearing on the budget for its May 22 council meeting. Mason added that council is then expected to vote on adopting its budget on June 5.
As New York State has yet to adopt its fiscal year 2025-26 budget, something that was supposed to have been done by April 1, municipalities across New York State are left wondering how much state aid they’ll be receiving, making for a frustrating budget process.
