Auburn City Council will vote Tuesday on an intermunicipal agreement with the Town of Springport to provide it with ambulance services.

Under the proposed agreement, Auburn City Ambulance (ACA) will provide services to the town, with the town providing an annual fee of $22,448 to the city to support ambulance operations and improvements. If approved, the agreement will go into effect on January 1, 2026, and expire on December 31, 2030.

The town currently does not have an ambulance service and relies on ambulance services from neighboring communities. ACA is already the town’s primary service provider.

The city has a similar agreement with the Town of Owasco, which was renewed in May. Unlike the agreement with Owasco, the city will not be required to station an ambulance in Springport.

Following the 2023 departure of American Medical Response from Cayuga County, towns have been grappling with how to best provide ambulance services to their residents.

The city has been running ACA in 2021.

The City Council meeting begins at 5:00p in Council Chambers.
