Auburn is replacing its aging scale house at the city transfer station with a new pre-fabricated building.

City Council has awarded the $48,550 bid to Cassone Leasing to erect the new 8×20′ steel container-style office with a one-half bath.

Speaking on FLX Morning with Ted Baker, City Clerk Chuck Mason explained that the scale house plays a vital role in operations at the facility.

“This is basically the point of communication at the scale that everybody communicates with the staff there as they’re coming in and leaving the transfer station and it facilitates the billing and the tonnage.”

Mason added the work is expected to be completed quickly and the structure installed in either late summer or early fall.
