APT Reopens Cinema with Improved Projector & Speakers

Grab some popcorn, Auburn Public Theater’s Cinema has reopened.

With seating for 65 people, the venue now boasts a new projector and sound system. The cinema offers a variety of programming, including first and second-run films, independent films, and free classic movies.

Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Dominic Gambaiani with APT says reopening the cinema is critical to the theater’s mission.

“People can enjoy a movie that maybe they want to see on the big screen again or haven’t been able to see for an affordable price because that all ties into [APT’s] mission of affordable access to the arts,” Gambaiani said.

The theater’s reopening brings with it the return of Screams & Screens, a B movie film series hosted by pop culture expert Ed Catto.

Screams & Screens is like Auburn’s campfire for movie fans,” said host Ed Catto. “We gather around, tell stories, and have a great time. I’m so excited to restart this amazing tradition – and we have an outstanding season scheduled for this fall.”

The cinema had to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic and remained closed as APT worked to install a new elevator in the facility.
