This weekend will see the inaugural chicken wing festival come to downtown Auburn.
The event, a partnership between the Auburn Business Improvement District and 315 Live, features a competition where restaurants will compete for the best wings in one of three categories – sauced, dry, and original recipe. There will also be a people’s choice award, allowing festival goers to vote for their favorite wing.
“We have a booth with tickets,” Tim Agee of 315 Live said on FLX Morning. “People will get a free ticket, you’ll go to the sample eat station, and you’ll drop your ticket at your favorite one. At the end, we’ll do a tally and that person will win the people’s choice award.”
Aside from the competition, there will also be food and craft vendors, live music, and activities for the whole family, including a basketball shooting competition.
The festival was originally planned for June 24th, however, an influx of vendor applications from across the region led the BID to postpone the event until August.
The first annual chicken wing festival runs this Saturday from 11:00a-6:00p.
