Canandaigua Lake Search Finds No Missing Swimmer

Emergency responders searched a section of Canandaigua Lake Wednesday evening after receiving a report of a person who had gone underwater and failed to resurface.

According to the Cheshire Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 6 p.m. to the east side of the lake near Deep Run following the report.

Cheshire Fire Department’s Marine 4 responded to the scene and worked alongside the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Crystal Beach Fire Department, and Canandaigua Emergency Squad to gather information about the reported victim’s last known location.

Using details provided by the caller, responders conducted a targeted search of the area.

Marine 4 utilized onboard sonar equipment and searched the lake for approximately 30 minutes. Despite the effort, crews found no evidence of a person in the water and no victim was located.

No additional information was immediately available.
