A search warrant executed Tuesday by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force led to the seizure of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, firearms and cash following a narcotics investigation in Cayuga County.
According to a news release, the warrant was carried out after an investigation into the possession, sale and distribution of drugs by 44-year-old Chad Bower and 41-year-old Apryl Chiszar, both of Genoa.
Authorities say the search of a residence used by the pair to sell drugs resulted in the seizure of more than eight ounces of methamphetamine, 4.8 grams of crack cocaine, drug packaging materials, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. Investigators also recovered several high-caliber rifles, ammunition, and high-capacity magazines.
Bower and Chiszar were arrested by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and each charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A-II felony, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Class B felonies.
Bower was additionally charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, Class A misdemeanors, due to a prior felony conviction.
Both were taken to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment and were remanded following their court appearances.
The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force includes members of the New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and Auburn Police Department. The investigation was assisted by the sheriff’s office and the Auburn Police Department’s Gun-Involved Violence Elimination team. The case will be prosecuted by the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.
