The Auburn Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the state in a campaign they say will help keep New York drivers safe.
APD will take part in the Buckle Up New York Click It or Ticket high visibility enforcement initiative running from May 18-31. During this time, police will focus on ensuring proper seatbelt use.
Police said increasing seat belt and child safety seat use is the most effective way to reduce crash-related injuries and deaths.
Under New York law, all passengers in vehicles aged 16 and older must be restrained by a seatbelt.
