Two Auburn High School seniors have been named as the 2026 recipients of the Ruth and Charles B Goldman Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship is named after two lifelong Auburnians and is designed to support one to two Auburn seniors who have demonstrated “a significant interest in the public affairs of the community, the nation, and/or the world.”
Emma Sroka was recognized for her volunteer work with her church’s soup kitchen and Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and her involvement in the Model United Nations. She plans to matriculate at Boston University in the fall.
Matthew Smith received recognition for his role as the school’s student ambassador, his leadership as class president and sports team captain, and his volunteer work at Matthew House. He plans to attend Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Each will receive $1,000 toward their first year in college.
Now in its 19th year, the scholarship has been presented since 2007.
