The Newark Police Department would like to announce the newest members of the NPD Jacob Panek, Rachel Boock, and Jared Panek.

Officer Boock is from Canandaigua and a graduate of Finger Lakes Community College. She is a certified EMT and served with the Canandaigua Emergency Squad. She has wanted to be a police officer since her junior year in high school where she took criminal justice courses and saw the career as a way to help juveniles and the drug problem.

Officers Jacob and Jared Panek are brothers who grew up in Newark and graduated from Newark High School. Jacob spent several years in the US Air Force both on active duty and then in the reserves as a Structural Journeyman. Interestingly, he had not really considered a career in policing until NPD Officer Jacob Jackson planted the seed. Now he sees policing as the career he didn’t know he wanted.

Jared is a graduate of FLCC and Nazareth University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He currently works for Swoop security team at the Newark CSD and has been interested in a career in policing for some time. He credits his grandfather who served with the Canandaigua Police Department for sparking his interest in the profession.

The three officers started the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy Feb 12th after successfully completing a rigorous hiring process. They are scheduled to complete the academy in July where they will then be put into a field-training program where they will be partnered with seasoned officers of the Newark PD to put the knowledge they’ve gained in the academy into application on the street.

Mayor Jonathan Taylor stated, “We are excited to have Rachel, Jared and Jacob join our team. They are a part of a core that is building within our department and will serve and protect our village for years to come. On behalf of our village, I would like to welcome them aboard and wish them continued success as they go through the academy.”

Welcome to the NPD Jacob, Rachel and Jared!
