The 4th Haudenosaunee Remembrance, Recognition and Reconciliation Service will take place Sunday, June 21, at St. John’s Episcopal Church of Catharine in Odessa. The service begins at 10 a.m. at 4938 County Road 14.

Haudenosaunee Storyteller Perry Ground will deliver a presentation related to America 250. His talk will include stories, historical, and cultural information about the Haudenosaunee and their influence on the founding of the United States.

Father David Hanselman, Rector of St. John’s and St. James’ Episcopal Churches in Schuyler County, said, “St John’s is once again honored to welcome Haudenosaunee storyteller Perry Ground. We seek to deepen our understanding and strengthen our friendship while continuing to learn about the Native American cultures that preceded European settlement and continue to provide important perspectives on sharing and caring for this amazing, precious and beautiful land that surrounds and nurtures us.”

St. John’s Episcopal Church of Catharine was founded in 1810. The location, at the four corners of County Road 14 and 15 at Catharine Corners south of the Village of Odessa, has been walked by Haudenosaunee and earlier Lamoka people for thousands of years.
