University of Rochester Medicine Finger Lakes Health Rehabilitation Services will offer its free Community Mobility Screening Program for adults 65 and older on Thursday, June 18, in Penn Yan and Geneva.

The program checks balance, strength, and fall risk. Screenings will take place at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan, and Garnsey Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at Geneva General Hospital, 196 North Street, Geneva.

The 30-minute screening measures participants’ scores on evidence-based tests that predict their risk for falls and recognize strength deficits and balance issues compared to their peers.

The goal of Finger Lakes Health Rehabilitation Services is to maintain the independence of older adults living in the communities. The free screening will be offered the third Thursday of each month in the rehabilitation department at both locations.

Spots are limited, and registration at least one week prior is requested. To schedule a screening, call 315-787-4570 for Geneva or 315-531-2577 for Penn Yan, or register online at www.flhealth.org.
