The boil water order issued for parts of Aurelius earlier this month has been lifted.
The Cayuga County Health Department issued the order on September 3 for parts of Clark Street Road (1276-1492), Basswood Road (6379, 6390, 6410), Half Acre Road (6320, 6340, 6400, 6561, 6600), and East and West Drives after a water main break caused the system to lose pressure. When a water system loses pressure, it increases the chances of bacteria entering the water.
A delay in making repairs to the system necessitated keeping the order in place, meaning residents in the affected areas were advised to buy bottled water or boil any water being used for drinking, ice making, washing dishes, brushing teeth, or food prep.
Water samples taken Friday and Monday proved satisfactory and the department has lifted the order.
