A boil water order has been issued for parts of the Town of Aurelius.
Residents on public water on Clark Street Road (1276-1492), Basswood Road (6379, 6390, 6410), Half Acre Road (6320, 6340, 6400, 6561, 6600), and East and West Drives (Coopers Mobile Manor) are being encouraged to boil any water before using it for drinking, cooking, washing dishes, or brushing their teeth.
According to the Cayuga County Health Department, on Tuesday, the Town of Aurelius water system lost pressure during a water main break, increasing the chance of harmful bacteria entering the water.
The department anticipates that the order will remain in effect for the next few days. Residents will be notified once the order is lifted.
