Health Dept.: Boil Water Order Remains in Effect for Parts of Aurelius

SHARE NOW

The boil water order issued for parts of Aurelius remains in effect.

According to an update from the Cayuga County Health Department, the system repairs necessary to lift the order have not yet been completed meaning the order will stay in place for residents on public water on Clark Street Road (1276-1492), Basswood Road (6379, 6390, 6410), Half Acre Road (6320, 6340, 6400, 6561, 6600), and East and West Drives (Coopers Mobile Manor).

A water main break on September 3 caused the water system to lose pressure, increasing the chance of harmful bacteria entering the water and necessitating the order.

Those in affected areas are advised either to buy bottled water or to boil water used for drinking, ice making, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food or infant formula.

Once repairs are completed, the town will take water samples to confirm there is no contamination within the system. The health department will then lift the order.
