Three Students Hurt After Homer School Bus Overturns

A Homer Central School District bus lies overturned in a snowy ditch in the Finger Lakes region after an accident that injured three students.

Three children were taken to the hospital Monday morning after a school bus carrying Homer Central School District students overturned in the town of Truxton.

New York State Police say the crash happened around 8:35 a.m. at the intersection of South Hill Road and Singleton Road. Troopers from the Homer barracks responded to find the bus on its side.

There were 11 elementary-aged students on board, along with the driver and a bus aide.

A 7-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy, and a 9-year-old boy were transported to Upstate University Hospital with two head injuries and a hand injury. Several other minor injuries were reported, but those students did not require ambulance transport.

All remaining students were transferred to another bus and taken to school.

Multiple emergency agencies assisted at the scene, including TLC, Tully and Lafayette ambulances, Truxton Fire, CAVAC Ambulance, the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, and local towing companies. Cincinnatus Ambulance was initially dispatched but canceled before arrival.

The cause of the crash has not been released.
