Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud announced Tuesday that he will be leaving the university at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year.
Syverud, who has led the university since 2013, will continue his duties through the end of the school year. His contract was set to expire in June 2026.
The university’s Board of Trustees will begin the process of selecting his successor over the next year. Officials say the search will include input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of the university. The board plans to release more details about the selection process in the coming weeks.
