A janitor at one Central New York School was found dead in the building’s cafeteria Tuesday morning, the apparent victim of carbon monoxide poisoning.
A staff member at the Syracuse Academy of Science High School discovered the body and called for help. When emergency units arrived on the scene on Park Avenue in Syracuse, Newschannel 9 reported firefighter’s carbon monoxide detectors were going off.
A dozen or so staff members in the kitchen also complained of symptoms possibly caused by carbon monoxide poisoning, with five people being taken to the hospital.
