Not guilty pleas were entered on Tuesday morning from the two suspects arrested in connection with the March death of a Genesee County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant at Batavia Downs.
According to the felony complaint, Michael Elmore, and Lindsay Wilcox, both of Batavia, were kicked out of the casino early Sunday morning for fighting and had been escorted out by Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello along with security. Elmore returned a short time later with what was classified as a thick piece of jewelry or necklace and used it to beat Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello in the head with. The 33-year-old Batavia man is also accused of putting Sanfratello into a chokehold resulting in the Sgt. losing consciousness.
Elmore is charged with aggravated manslaughter, while Wilcox is charged with assault for allegedly hitting Sanfratello as he was trying to place her into custody.
