Report: Monroe County DA Sandra Doorley to Step Down

SHARE NOW

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley will vacate her position, according to a report released Tuesday by the New York State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct (CPC), though the timeline for her departure remains unclear.

The CPC determined that Doorley should be publicly censured following its investigation into an incident in April 2024, when Doorley failed to stop for a police officer who attempted to pull her over for speeding on Phillips Road in Webster. Instead, she continued driving to her home.

Body camera footage later showed Doorley confronting the responding officers in her driveway, identifying herself as the district attorney and saying she had called Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier to assure him she was not a threat. The video prompted public outcry and calls for accountability.

In the wake of the incident, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick was appointed as a special prosecutor to review the case. He ultimately declined to pursue criminal charges.

Doorley has worked in the Monroe County DA’s Office since 1992 and has served as the county’s top prosecutor since 2011. She was re-elected to a fourth term in 2023.

While the CPC’s announcement confirms she will leave her post, 13 WHAM reports neither Doorley nor her office has provided a date for her resignation.
