Is Governor Kathy Hochul out of touch with the average New Yorker?
According to a Siena College Research Institue Poll conducted earlier this month, 43% of respondents think so. 33% said New York’s 57th governor is not out of touch; 15% held a middle position, and the remaining 9% either didn’t know or refused to answer the question.
The poll also showed a drop in both Hochul’s favorability and job approval ratings. 41% view her favorably while 46% do not. That’s down from January’s favorability rating of 45-42%. Last month marked the first time since February 2023 that more people viewed her favorably than unfavorably.
Among the issues voters want the governor and legislature to address, top issues include the cost of living, the influx of migrants, crime, housing, and health.
On the bright side for the governor, voters said she is honest, hard working, and not corrupt. You can view the full poll results here.
