For the first time in nearly a year, Governor Kathy Hochul has a positive favorability rating.
That’s according to a Siena College Research Institute poll which states 45% of New Yorkers view her favorably while 42% view her unfavorably and 12% have no opinion. The last time more people viewed her favorably than unfavorably was in February of 2023 with a 46-43% rating.
The poll goes on to say, however, that many New Yorkers don’t think Hochul will make progress on issues she’s pushing for. For example, 54% of voters don’t think she will make New York a more desirable place to live while 49% say she won’t make the state safer.
The governor has touted her plan to make New York the artificial intelligence capital of the world; however, New Yorkers appear skeptical. 44% of those surveyed said Hochul won’t achieve this goal; 26% said she will; 1% have mixed feelings, and 29% either didn’t know or refused to answer.
This poll was conducted by from January 14-17 with 807 registered voters responding.
