Men Accused in Attack on Alfred State Student Charged With Attempted Murder

The four Elmira men accused of a gang assault on an Alfred State College student have each been indicted on an attempted murder charge by an Allegany County Grand Jury.

The attack happened during the early morning hours of October 15th as freshman student Derek Correa was walking back to his dorm. The four suspects, Jayson Lewis, William Blye the Third, Moses Scharborough, and Eric Plante, are accused of committing an attack so severe, Correa is in a coma after suffering severe head trauma.

Police say none of the suspects are students at Alfred and a motive for the attack is still unknown.
