Police have released the name of the man struck and killed by a car on the Interstate 81 overpass by Northern Lights Plaza just after midnight Wednesday morning.
According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Lonnie Bishop of Mexico exited his vehicle after a minor two-car accident when a third vehicle passing the accident struck him causing fatal injuries.
Paramedics pronounced the 49-year-old dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported from the accident.
I-81 North was shut down for several hours and the accident remains under investigation.
