Some new details were released by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office regarding the late Thursday night high-speed pursuit that ended in a rollover crash on State Route 14.
According to the department’s investigation, before the pursuit, deputies had made a traffic stop on 30-year-old Jonathan Webb, of Dundee, in the town of Starkey. Deputies were interviewing Webb regarding a separate incident during the traffic stop when he allegedly drove away at a high rate of speed with no lights and committed a number of traffic violations. Webb failed to stop as deputies attempted to conduct a second traffic stop. He led deputies on a pursuit through the village of Dundee onto State Route 14 where Webb reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour. He eventually lost control near South Glenora Road and rolled over his car after it left the road.
Webb was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight for treatment of back and neck injuries.
He was charged with unlawfully fleeing police, two counts of reckless driving, four counts of speeding, a half-dozen counts of failing to stop for a stop sign, two counts of failure to keep right, unlicensed operation, no headlights, and unsafe lane change.
Webb was released on appearance tickets for Starkey Town Court.
Assisting the Yates County Sheriff’s Office Thursday night were New York State Police, Dundee Fire Department, Dundee Ambulance, Penn Yan Ambulance, and Mercy Flight
