Prattsburgh Man Accused of Stealing Car in Yates County

SHARE NOW

Authorities in Yates County have charged a Prattsburgh man for allegedly stealing a car in the town of Jerusalem.

Late Monday morning, an investigator from the Yates County Sheriff’s Office spotted a man on State Route 54A just outside the village limits of Penn Yan who matched the description of the suspect who was involved in a burglary and stolen car that occurred the night before. After a brief interview, the man was identified as 37-year-old Charles Graner, the Fourth, was taken into custody.

Graner was charged with four felony counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, a single count of criminal mischief, along with a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He was brought to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment.

Last week, Graner was arrested in Steuben County last week on a handful of crimes, including two felonies, after he allegedly fought with Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies while they attempted to arrest him for his role in a domestic altercation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
