A Cayuga County man is charged with assault after he allegedly punched a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy in the head as he was being issued a ticket for a moving violation.
Deputies were called to a residence in Ira early Wednesday morning after Tyler Noxon returned a car with damage to its passenger side to its owner. Noxon would not disclose how the damage was caused. An investigation determined that Noxon drove off Humprey Road, which damaged the vehicle.
When deputies went to give him a ticket for an unsafe lane change, Noxon became agitated and struck a deputy in the head. He continued to fight with deputies as they placed him into custody.
The injured deputy was treated at Auburn Hospital and released.
Noxon is also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. He was arraigned at CAP court and is currently being held on $25,000 Cash, $50,000 Bond.
