New York State Police have arrested an Allegany County man in connection with a fatal crash that occurred last July in Steuben County.
Lukas Ellsessor, of Angelica, was charged Wednesday with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, first-degree reckless endangerment, and driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol, with a prior conviction within the last ten years.
The charges stem from a July 3, 2024, crash on state Route 371 in the town of Cohocton that claimed the life of 26-year-old Adrian V. Gregory-Kielbasa, also of Angelica. He was a passenger in the 2017 Dodge Caravan Ellsessor was driving.
According to state police, the 26-year-old Ellsessor attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone before losing control. The van left the roadway, rolled over, and ejected Gregory-Kielbasa, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ellsessor was treated for minor injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
