An Auburn Police officer was injured last night while responding to a disturbance at a bar on State Street involving an uncooperative patron.
Officers were called to the establishment after reports that a man, later identified as Christopher Bell, was causing a disruption and refusing to leave. When police arrived and attempted to speak with Bell, he was uncooperative. As officers tried to escort him from the premises, Bell fled through a back door and entered a fenced-in area.
Police say Bell then took a fighting stance, prompting officers to deploy a Taser to subdue him. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Bell was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor obstruction of governmental administration. He was transported to Cayuga County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
