A larceny investigation in Auburn has two people facing a series of felony drug charges.
A Syracuse man is facing multiple charges after an incident Wednesday night in Auburn.
According to police, officers were alerted to a larceny complaint at the Dollar Tree at 314 Genesee St at approximately 7:30p on Wednesday. A description of the suspect and their vehicle was given, and a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) was issued to area law enforcement.
Shortly after, police located the vehicle in the area of Genesee and South Streets and began a traffic stop. It was determined that the suspect, 50-year-old Ronald Agee Jr of Syracuse, had been dropped off by the driver of the vehicle at a residence in the city.
APD members were familiar with Agee as police said he had an active warrant out as a parole absconder.
Agee Jr was located at the residence and taken into custody, and ultimately taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center, where police say he will remain pending further court proceedings.
While working to arrest Agee Jr, officers continued their investigation at the traffic stop. Police say 45-year-old Beth Geiger of Auburn and 40-year-old Antwan Smith of Syracuse were found to be in possession of 48.5g of methamphetamine, 11g of crack cocaine, and numerous glassine envelopes containing fentanyl. A digital scale and suspected cutting agents were also found in the vehicle.
Geiger and Smith were taken to the Auburn Police Department and charged with the following felonies:
Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd
One Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd
One Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th
One Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th.
Based on Geiger being on probation, the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office requested that she be remanded to the Cayuga County Jail. Because Smith is on parole and has five previous felony convictions, he was mandatorily taken to jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
