Police arrested a man who allegedly attempted to force his way into an apartment and then fled from officers during a burglary call in Auburn’s Brogan Manor neighborhood.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers were dispatched around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday to 37 Olympia Avenue for a reported burglary in progress. A caller reported that a man was trying to break into an apartment through the front door.

When officers arrived, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Darrick Telvock of Scipio, ran from police but was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Investigators determined that Telvock had gone to the victim’s residence and attempted to force entry, breaking the front door in the process.

Telvock was charged with aggravated family offense, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.

He was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment. Prosecutors recommended that he be remanded without bail, citing that he was on probation and had committed a new felony offense.

No injuries were reported.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
