Penn Yan Sends Athletes to National Competitions in Bowling and Trap Shooting

Congratulations to Penn Yan’s Mason Bush who won the New York State Individual Trap Shooting championship on Sunday. Mason shot a 99 overall and will head to Mason, Michigan in July to compete in the USA High School Clay Target League National Championships!

Brianna Naprava earned a 2nd place finish in the Varsity female division, missing the state champion female spot by ONE point.

Also on Sunday, the Mustangs Trap Team collected its Class 2A Conference 1 second-place award. Congratulations to our 2024 Mustangs trap team on your 2nd place conference finish! The Dundee-Bradford Brave-Scots Trap Team placed fifth overall out of 76 teams at the state competition.  The Brave Scots JV team came home with 3rd place out of 19 JV teams, which was determined by season average.  Congratulations to Carsen, Ayden, Alex, Bryce N., and Ryan E. on the accomplishment.

Penn Yan Academy’s Conner Anderson bowled at the High School National Championship Bowling Tournament on Sunday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Anderson bowled games of 180, 237, 135, and 179 and failed to advance to today’s Final round of bowling. Anderson was one of 362 bowlers from across the country who qualified to take part in the national competition.

Another Mustang, JD Tette, placed third for Steeplechase in the New York State Division Two Track and Field State Championship held at Cicero-North Syracuse on Saturday. With his finish, JD qualified for the New Balance Nationals next weekend in Philadelphia.
