For the first time, a Penn Yan Mustangs athlete will participate in a national track and field competition.
Senior JD Tette placed third for Steeplechase in the New York State Division Two Track and Field State Championship held at Cicero-North Syracuse on Saturday. With his finish, JD qualified for the New Balance Nationals next weekend in Philadelphia.
A 15-time Section Five champion, J.D. became the first Mustang to win a state championship in cross country last November.
J.D. plans on attending SUNY Geneseo in the Fall.
