Roughly 26-thousand RG&E customers in its Sodus Service area, which includes Wayne and Cayuga Counties, will have smart meters installed starting next month.
The company is holding two open houses to answer any questions customers may have about the new devices.
The first open house will be next Tuesday at the Sodus Public Library from 5:00-7:00p. The second will be held March 2nd at the Leavenworth Middle School Auditorium in Wolcott, also from 5:00-7:00p.
RG&E says the smart meters will automatically measure electrical or gas readings for more accurate billing as well as improve response times during power outages.
