City of Auburn Calling on State Action to Protect Owasco Lake

SHARE NOW

After having to send a public notice to residents about disinfection byproducts in its water supply, the City of Auburn is calling for action by New York State to protect the health of Owasco Lake.

City Councilor Terry Cuddy says the state has a responsibility to help.

He adds the consequences of the state not acting could be disastrous

City Council is working on a resolution calling on the governor and legislature to adopt a Total Maximum Daily Load, something the city has requested since 2016, and for them to act on the rules and regulations adopted in October 2020 to protect Owasco Lake.

Councilor Cuddy will be speaking Tuesday at the Save Owasco Now meeting at 5:00p at the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES in Auburn.
