The Cayuga County Democratic Committee has announced a series of endorsements for candidates running for offices in the county and in the City of Auburn.
Current City Councilor Jimmy Giannettino has been selected as his party’s choice to replace Mayor Michael Quill, who announced back in November he would not seek reelection.
Christina Calarco and Doctor Rhoda Overstreet-Wilson will run for the two city council seats up for grabs.
When it comes to the county legislature, Johnathan Anna has been selected to run for District 1 (Ira, Sterling, Victory), Ben Vitale for District 2 (Conquest, Mentz, Montezuma, Throop), James Moore for District 4 (Aurelius, Fleming, Springport), and Aileen McNabb-Coleman for District 5 (Owasco, Sennett).
Committee Chair Dia Carabajal says the party is still seeking candidates to run for county legislator in districts 3 (Brutus, Cato), 6 (Genoa, Ledyard, Locke, Scipio), and 7 (Moravia, Niles, Sempronius, Summerhill, Venice), as well as for the position of county clerk.
Unless challengers present themselves and garner enough petitions, the Democratic Party will avoid a primary this year.
Candidates will begin circulating petitions next month.
