A Cayuga County business has been awarded nearly 3-million dollars from New York State for upgrades to its facility.
Governor Kathy Hochul made the announcement that Owens-Brockway Glass Container Inc has received a 2.8-million dollar Empire State Development Grant to upgrade its location in the Town of Sennett by rebuilding and redesigning its aging glass manufacturing furnace to make it more energy efficient and sustainable.
The company has also been approved for a 1-million dollar Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit.
The funding comes as part of New York’s Round XII of the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.
“Together, the Regional Economic Development Councils are growing New York’s economy by emphasizing the rich assets in every corner of our state and investing in projects that will create good, high-quality jobs,” Governor Hochul said. “As we continue to make deep investments in New York communities, we remain committed to doing so in a way that expands opportunity, drives private investment, and bolsters our talented workforce.”
