SHARE NOW

Partially treated wastewater was discharged into the Owasco River, Thursday.

The Cayuga County Health Department says the incident occurred due to a valve failure at the City of Auburn’s facilities at 35 Bradley Street. The discharge began at 12:30p and lasted approximately 90 minutes, releasing over 281-thousand gallons in the process.

The health department is reminding the community that these discharges do NOT affect public drinking water which is collected from Owasco Lake, south of the discharge site with the river flowing north.
