The City of Auburn is issuing a public notice to its water supply users.
Water samples collected throughout the year at the city’s York Street sampling location found a group of disinfection byproducts called trihalomethanes to be 81 parts per billion, exceeding the US Environmental Protection Agency’s standard of 80ppb.
Director of Municipal Utilities Seth Jensen wants you to know the water is safe to drink.
Jensen explains the cause of the violation with the EPA:
He also says a flush will be the first step in getting rid of the byproducts.
