One Cayuga County library is moving.
The Hazard Library is currently located in Poplar Ridge but will construct a new facility in Sherwood. Library Director Lisa Semenza says the move will better allow them to serve their patrons.
Opendore is the historic site and former home of Isabel Howland who was active in the women’s suffrage movement.
The new building is expected to cost roughly one million dollars. The library will need to raise 350-thousand of that in order to match a New York State Library Grant. Semenza adds they’re planning a variety of fundraising efforts.
If all goes according to plan, the new facility will be opened sometime in the summer of 2025.
